Traveling in 2017 – 5 apps to help you

As someone who loves technology, the greatest piece of kit in my gadget arsenal is without question, my smartphone. My phone has replaced a GPS tracker, a music player, a camera and of course, it is the method by which I can keep in touch with friends and family and my social media profiles. My phone however would not be able to do all of the magical things that I ask of it if it were not for the applications which I rely on to get me around the world in one piece and I wanted to share with you my 5 essential travel apps which anyone who plans on hitting the road will need.

Google Translate

I like to try and learn a few words or phrases of the native language of my destination but that is about as far as I ever get and in those moments when you get completely stuck with someone who doesn’t speak English, Google Translate can come to the rescue. What I love about the app is that it is not just a dictionary where you can translate a word, the app allows you to translate ehwole sentences and even has a listening tool so that your new friend can simply speak, and it will translate for you.

I have to be honest, I am not  very good photographer and I need all the help that I can get when it comes to turning my images into something which people will actually like, step forward Snapseed. This is an app which lets you upload images to it and then using a selection of tools, you can basically make it look better, brighter, sharper and more attractive.

You never know when you are going to need your next flight and for this reason, Skyscanner is an app which I heavily rely on. The app searches across the web for the best and the cheapest flights and then you can filter it by price, destination, travel time and a whole range of other options. If you are flying around the world, get this app on your phone.

Google Maps

I quite literally would be lost without Google maps and in my opinion it is the best map application that I have found. I love that if you preload your route that the app will track you even when you are not connected to wifi and I love the little nuggets of information about each place that the app will give you.

I use AirBnb all over the world and I love being able to easily manage by bookings directly form my phone. Here I can search for places, chat with owners and leave feedback about the places that I have stayed in. I actually use the app more than the desktop site because the inert face is clean and fast, far superior to the desktop version. If you AirBnb, make sure you have this app in your arsenal!
